\"\"WE HELPED WITH THE COVID VACCINE ROLL-OUT:<\/strong>

Since we started back in January 2021 Stafford Lions have volunteered for over 5,460 hours at vaccination centres in Stafford. Currently we are volunteering at the Limes Vaccination Centre on Newport Road, Stafford where, in addition to the Covid vaccine they have also offered the flu vaccine. In December 2023 the vaccine centre finally closed down.0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"EVIRONMENTAL BOOKS FOR LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS<\/strong>:
34 local primary schools in the Stafford and surrounding areas have received a set of 7 children’s books which deal with environmental issues.
\"\"

The 7 \u2018Wild Tribe Heroes\u2019 books are written by environmentalist Ellie Jackson, a member of a Cornish Lions Club. The children\u2019s books follow a range of different animals as they overcome problems in their environment.   Through the help of people, the animals are rescued, rehabilitated and released back to their home.  The books are beautifully illustrated and aimed at primary and preschool aged children covering topics such as the impact of plastic in our oceans, climate change\/global warming, deforestation and habitat loss. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"POTATO GLEANING:<\/strong>
Gleaning is the harvesting of left over crops. This time we were at Lower Drayton Farm where we were collecting potatoes which we took to a foodbank in Stafford.
\"\"
\"\" BASWICH FOOD COLLECTION:
<\/strong>Stafford Lions were out in force in January for the annual food collection in Baswich. Thanks to the generosity of residents 9 car loads of food was collected and delivered to the Foodbank at Rising Brook Baptist Church. A superb team effort.

\"\"St. MARY’S CRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL:
<\/strong>Not only did Stafford Lions Club have a tree in the St. Mary’s Christmas Tree Festival but members of our Club heled with the marshalling during the event. We also act as stewards on the last Tuesday of each month so that the public can visit the church between 10:00 and 14:00.

\"\"CRISTMAS FUNDRAISING:
<\/strong>Christmas 2022 has seen us seriously fundraising at local shopping centres BUT WE HAD FUN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"WHEELCHAIR LOANS:
<\/strong>Our club has a small selection of mobility aids that we freely loan out.
\"\" We loaned a wheelchair to Jo who had told us that due to illness her mom had not left the house for over a month, Imagine how pleased we were a few days later when we received the message below:
Thank you so very much for wheelchair loan. It’s meant I could take her out this weekend to watch my daughter play football, something she loves to do but been unable to do. Your kindness means a lot. Best wishes Jo.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"CHRISTMAS FOOD PARCELS FOR CARE LEAVERS<\/strong>:
We supplied Social Services with 21 Christmas Food Parcels to distribute to care-leavers. Young adults usually leave the care system when they are 18 years of age and must learn to fend for themselves. We thought that they might like a seasonal gift from Stafford Lions Club. The picture below shows just 7 of the Christmas Food Parcels.

\"\"GLEANING PUMPKINS<\/strong>:
For the second year running we have been gleaning pumpkins. Gleaning is the harvesting of left over crops. We manage to collect 30 large builder’s bags full of pumpkins at Lower Drayton Farm. The pumpkins were sent off to ‘Fairshare’ (Marcus Rashford’s charity) to provide food for impoverished families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"Our Charity Musical Evening in October 2022 at Stafford Rangers Social Club was a great success. <\/strong>
We raised over \u00a31,000 which will go into our Welfare Account so that we can continue to support mainly local causes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"Our Annual Carer\u2019s Party:<\/strong>
We host a party for adult carer\u2019s, a thank you from Stafford Lions for all their selfless work and care for their loved ones.  2023 was no exception as more than 60 carers enjoyed afternoon tea, entertainment, bingo and gifts.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\"\"Our Response to the Ukrainian Crisis:
<\/strong>Stafford Lions paid for a coach to take 50 children and their mothers to Llandudno for an enjoyable day by the seaside.  We also made a large donation to Lions Clubs International Disasters Fund and to a German Lions Club who are providing water purification machinery for war torn towns in Ukraine. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\"\"Sri Lankan Tea Party
<\/a><\/strong>We were approached by Sanjaya Grero who wished to raise money for the Ukrainian Appeal.  Our club was happy to work with him and together we raised over \u00a3700.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
