Our website:

Welcome –  to the Home Page of Stafford Lions  Club (CIO) United Kingdom web site, The aim of this web site is to provide information about our voluntary organisation, (CIO is the Charity Incorporated Organisation status which means that we are recognised by the government’s Charities Commission.  Our charity number is 1181780).

Who are Stafford Lions?:
Stafford Lions are a group of local men and women who dedicate some of their spare time to helping vulnerable people, groups and individuals in Stafford and surrounding villages.
Just some of our Lions.

We are ordinary people who want to make a difference to our community.  We are all volunteers so every penny we raise goes directly to good causes.  We mix charity work with having a good social life.

Our Response to Hunger:
Every month we donate £100 each to 2 foodbanks in Stafford.  We also hold 2 food collections a year, one in Baswich (January) and one  more in Wildwood (June or July)

We also go ‘GLEANING’ for  both pumpkins and potatoes.  Gleaning is the harvesting of left over crops.  Pumpkin crops we collect go to Marcus Rashford’s ‘Fareshare Charity’  and potatoes go to local foodbanks.

We also support care leavers with Christmas Food Parcels.  Young adults in care leave the system when they are 18 years old to fend for themselves.  At  Christmas our club provide 21 food bags to recent leavers from the care system.

Our Response to Childhood Cancer:

We have recently worked with the Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance (CCPA) in Stafford and funded their  new  Arts Project providing art and craft opportunities for families.   We also gave them money towards Christmas gifts for cancer sufferers and their siblings.

Our Response to the Covid Crisis (Helping the Vaccine Roll-Out):

Members of our Lions Club started volunteering at the Stafford vaccination centres in January 2021 and have continued ever since.

Snow back in January 2021

  • Now in 2023, so far, we have volunteered for over 5,400 hours trying to keep everyone safe.  Currently we are volunteering at The Limes, Newport Road, Stafford, affectionately known as ‘Jolly Jabs’ run by Cornwell’s Chemists where they also offer flu vaccinations.

Our Response to Humanitarian Crises:

Many Ukrainian families have temporarily settled in the Stafford area to escape the Russian invasion.  We paid for a coach to take 54 mothers and children to Llandudno to spend a day out at the seaside.

Our Lion was there to see the Ukrainian children off on their trip to the seaside.

The club has made a large donation to Lions Clubs International Disaster Fund to support efforts for refugees from the war. We have sent a donation to a German Lions Club who have a project for providing clean water to areas in Ukraine affected by the war.  A couple from our club are hosting a young woman from the Ukraine.  Several Lion members helped anther Ukrainian lady, Ludmila, move in to her new home.

Our Annual Carer’s Party:
Every year we host a party for adult carer’s, a thank you from Stafford Lions for all their selfless work and care for their loved ones.  2022 was no exception as more than 60 carers enjoyed afternoon tea, entertainment, bingo and gifts.

WHERE DO WE MEET?:
We meet every first Wednesday of the month at Stafford Rangers Social Club, Astonfields Road, Stafford Stafford, ST 16 3UF, starting at 7.30 p.m.  We also have at least one social each month.
